When: February 22nd at 6pm Eastern.
The session will be recorded for those who cannot make it to the live Zoom call.
Description: Natural dyes are an easy way to reduce your carbon footprint (synthetic dyes are petroleum/fossil fuel-based products) and increase your time outdoors. Learn how and why indigo is so different from all the other natural dyes. During the first half of the workshop, we will cover a brief history of indigo production and use around the world.
During the 2nd half of the workshop, Jean will do a live demonstration of how to create an organic indigo vat. If you want to try your hand at making an indigo vat, you have the option of purchasing an indigo kit. By the end of the hour, you will have a basic understanding of indigo and how to create your own vat. You’ll have access to a recording of the workshop for one year following the live event.
Length of class: 1 hour
Min/max students: minimum 5 students; no maximum
Materials: Optional purchase of an indigo kit from Jean Haley Dye + Design or another vendor. Upon registration, I'll provide the specifications for the kits (not all kits are created equal!) and possible vendors in the US and Canada.
